Weekend Warrior

As another weekend comes to a close, I am going to spend a few moments with a quick summary for you.  I had the Lobster and Gouda Grilled Cheese with the crock of Lobster Poutine in good company at Claudine’s Eatery Friday evening.  We had family visiting this past weekend, and it was very nice to spend time together.

Saturday started slowly with a visit to Sweet Belgian Desire for a late brunch.  I had the Omelet Florentine with a side Greek salad and coffee.  It was delicious and on plan.  We then ran a few errands, and I bought a stability ball.  I will let you know how I make out with that purchase once it is assembled and I get a chance to try it out.

We then had a BBQ Saturday evening.  My guests were quite happily entertained with 2 back to back live stream concerts from home.  I also enjoyed watching them.  The Celtic Colours International Festival is well known for the music and concerts held yearly in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.  If you love traditional Cape Breton music and want to experience it firsthand, I highly recommend planning a trip to see some of the shows live.  If you can’t be there in person, like us, they pick one concert per night of the Festival and live stream it online.  They don’t reveal which one until the day of the broadcast.  It is available for 24 hours after the live stream is ended.  I started the Friday show and the Grand Finale was able to be watched also last night.  I am glad we found it, it was a pleasant way to spend time together.  I am able to use the tv and stereo for my computer, so it was a full-sized concert with surround sound that we watched from my living room.  It is nice to be able to watch events like that on my TV with excellent sound quality.

This morning started with coffee and tea at my kitchen table.  My family left for the next visit after that.  It wasn’t a rushed morning.  Roy and I watched a couple of TV shows together, and then we went to get a few groceries.  After this, I took a nap.  Sometimes, Sunday afternoon is meant for taking a nap.  Today was one of those days.  When I woke up, a friend had delivered some coffee K-cups for my Keurig.  I will gladly add them to my stash, and enjoy them.  We then went out to supper. I was craving Chinese food.  Since we were planning to go to Oromocto for Kingsman: The Golden Circle to see it in the early show, we chose to eat supper at Diamond House Chinese Restaurant, also in Oromocto.  We had combos and enjoyed the meal.  We had to hurry for the movie, it had just started when we got there.  We met up with our friends, chatted a bit in the parking lot after, and came home.

We ate out more than usual this weekend.  However, it was not an ordinary weekend.  I am going to be cooking tomorrow as I am not going to make it to Zumba, and I have things that need to be made.  I have leftover tossed salad saved in 2 mason jars to help start the week’s lunches off in the right direction.  I still have my picnic lunch ingredients too.  All was not lost in the planning this weekend.  I can also say that the cleaning is progressing nicely.  The dishes are being kept up and I still have a lot of organizing to do.  I made progress throughout the week like I needed to do.  The trick will be to start back at it right away this week.  Today, I needed to rest for the upcoming week.  And that is a wrap for this week.  I think I won again. 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving from Canada!  I am indeed going to stuff myself full to the brim of turkey dinner at a friend’s house today.  I am thankful that I don’t have to cook a turkey this weekend, as it is still warmer than seasonal temperatures here and I would absolutely melt.  I did see a turkey roasting pot at Walmart yesterday that looks like a crock pot for turkeys and claims to be self-basting while the turkey cooks.  If that works it might be something that goes on my wish list.  If you have tried this out, let me know if you like it.

I am cleaning this week.  I realized that I need to get into the cleaning again, before November.  I have been inspired to participate in NaNoWriMo after I decided not to do it this year.  I am going to write about cats and Susan, and the theme is superpowers, not superheroes like I thought, but I will make it work.  I have asked friends to send me cat stories for research.  I have an idea of what I want to write, and how, but was worried that I may not have enough information to write it all from the original idea.  I will use my own superpowers to win this year, I know it!

I have yet to complete the website setup.  I am working on it this month, but I now have more going on than I did before.  Since I started this blog in November last year, it seems fitting to make my move a year later.  I wanted to test my writing abilities before making this leap.  I think I can safely assume that it is not a passing fancy and that I am totally committed to keeping it going.  I am about to add my new third category this week, and I am really excited about it.  It is also going to have a few surprises, in terms of nerdy author geeky things.

Along with working on concepts and ideas for my NaNoWriMo novel, I have taken up the fantasy trilogy project.  I do not want to fall too far behind on it and am working on it every few days.  I am happy to say that a challenge I am in (are you surprised that I started another one? No?  I am in two right now, with one to catch up on when I finish these two) has fired up my writing for the book one of the trilogy.  I started a little bit of free writing and got some plot and character ideas going.  That was all I needed to pick it up again.  Who knew?  I didn’t.  I told you that I even surprise myself sometimes.

Weekends are supposed to be fun filled.  It was.  I also went to the Northside Market on Saturday, and am now as I write re-organizing furniture in my mind in the Master Bedroom/Craft Room.  I have made some progress, and want to finish it tomorrow so that I can move more craft supplies back out of the living room and into the neatly organized space in my Master Bedroom.  I hope to get this done because I am on a deadline.  I have to push through this week and work at work and clean at home so that I can really focus on the writing.  What do I need to finish before then?  After the cleaning is done, then I move on to website building, including an online store (exciting and terrifying at the same time) and moving the Blog to the website.  If I am going to get this all done before November, I need to be focused on progress and getting things finished.

By the end of the week, on Friday, I want to kick back and relax after a week of doing double duty.  Then I can implement the maintenance cleaning schedule and have a monthly and weekly chore list that keeps things from reversing into chaos again.  I know that chaos is a true sign of a creative mind and that it is not always a bad thing, but I am trying to change my ways for the better, and fight my way to be able to feel like I can spend more time creating and be happy about it.  Not feeling guilty and not doing anything because what I want to do can’t be done until I do what I need to do, which I don’t want to do, and then I fall into the nasty non-productive loop of living in chaos and getting nothing done at all.  I have a plan for tomorrow, and I have to set myself up to succeed before I give up on it all.  I know what I have to do, and it is up to me to do it.

What did you do this weekend?

If you are following my blog, you will know what I was up to yesterday, already.  I will not go into the same story again, but it is still on my mind, of course.

Friday night had me decide to have a bottle of wine.  It was a red wine, and it was truly terrible.  I did not enjoy it at all, and will never buy it again.  I thought about pouring it down the drain, but being half Scottish, I drank it instead of wasting it.  The new wine glass (a 1 Litre Thundermug) fit the 750ml bottle nicely, and I sipped at it all evening.  There were a large number of descriptive flavours on the label, but none of them shone through.  It was muted abundance if that makes any sense.  Hmm.  If I ever make wine, that might be what I call it, but instead of being watery, and too many flavours, I will find a way to take a subtle flavour and enhance it.  Muted Abundance.  Well, at least I got something good out of the experience!

Roy had decided he was up for making tacos for supper.  I think I should warn you that horribly bad red wine does NOT pair well with tacos.  I doubt red wine ever pairs well with tacos.  Had I known where the evening would have ended, I might have chosen to drink some of Susan’s tequila instead.  Hindsight is 20/20. We then sat down to watch The Orville together.  Roy had no idea what I was putting on the TV, but we rather enjoyed it.  The obvious jokes were funny, and it was a show with a spaceship.  We will see if it keeps us laughing, that was the pilot show.  I had my bottle of G2 (Gatorade) chaser when I finished the wine and while I was eating my tacos.  I can say that I had no hangover (yay!) but must confess to a night of uncomfortable indigestion.

Saturday was written about yesterday.  However, after the event, we went out to supper with Andrew and some other friends.  We had a nice meal, and the conversation did steer around Star Trek Discovery and The Orville.  After that, we went to play pool at Dooly’s for an hour or two.  While we were there, a Beatles song came on.  I felt it was a message from Susan, as we were there with Andrew.  “Paperback Writer” played, and it made me feel like we had her blessing to be spending time together as friends.  It also told me that I need to get serious about writing if I am going to get my Fantasy Trilogy done.  I was a little sad that Susan wasn’t able to be with us, but also felt that in a way, she was.

Here I am on Sunday, writing from The Second Cup, in Fredericton New Brunswick, Canada.  I have to pass some time before going to buy fish food.  We are out, and the fishies like it when we feed them. (No, they didn’t go without, we just need more.)  As I am in the same part of town where the store is, it made sense to park in a cafe with my laptop, have my breakfast, and write.  I am so happy with this laptop.  I just had a brief discussion with the city mayor about the wi-fi signal here.  I am in the front corner, far away from the counter, and I suspected that if I was closer to the back of the cafe the signal would be stronger.  The Mayor confirmed this, as he is using his phone, and was moving through the cafe to find out if the signal changed.  It did.  For my purposes, it is a Sunday, and I decided that the location was more important than the speed of my internet connection.  With a little patience, I am able to do what I need to do.  It is a lesson in patience when the internet is slow, no matter where you are, or what you are working on.  Today, I have decided to pace myself and make the most of my day, as tomorrow is another Monday.

Once I finish my errands, I am going to go prep cook and bounce the house.  I plan to have a skype date with my cousin this evening and will be catching a live webinar this afternoon.  I am hoping to meet up with a friend today, actually, there may be two friends I need to see, now that I think about it.  So even though it is a day that I do not want to rush about to get things done, it will be packed full of many things that need to get done.

Hello everyone!  I am kicking back and putting my feet up in a hotel in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada.  I have just finished a weekend of helping my friend out at a craft show, with her knitting and her daughter’s crocheting.  It is an annual show, called Windfall Fine Art & Handcraft Market. I have worked at other craft shows myself, and I have to tell you, this one was a little different.

The show is hosted at the St. F. X. Campus in Antigonish, in a section of the arena.  There is an admission fee for the customers, and that is donated to the local Charity that donates part of the proceeds to the local hospital.  The part that really stands out for me was that there was a place for vendors to go and take a break.  Not so big of a deal by itself, until you find out that there is a snack table with hot and cold drinks, biscuits and cheese, and sweets there for the vendors to take as they wish.  It is also run by donation, and all of the proceeds from this and the raffle go to the same charity.  There are donated gifts from the vendors that they sell tickets on, which is what the raffle is for.  I did not win a prize.

We left on Friday.  I took a 4 day weekend, and am using up 2 vacation days to be able to be here.  We booked a room in a local hotel.  I wasn’t sure about it, but it has been a pleasant stay. The hotel is under new management, so there are things that could be improved upon, but these things did not make the stay unbearable.  The bed was good, there are enough pillows and towels.  It is clean.  I have been comfortable here.

We got some groceries to have food during the weekend at the show and at the hotel.  I am getting ready to make some microwave popcorn to enjoy while watching the brand new Star Trek Series Discovery.  I am looking forward to the show.

We ate at a local favourite restaurant tonight.  It is called The Snow Queen.  I knew there was one near Mother Webb’s Restaurant, but I was not aware that there was one in the town of Antigonish.

I was impressed by the food.  I got the pan fried haddock in lemon butter, garlic mashed potatoes, and a small house salad.  I was in the mood for a treat, so I had a chocolate milkshake with it.  I really enjoyed it.  The piece of fish was large, the potatoes and salad were tasty, and the milkshake filled the glass twice.  I felt like I had a haddock Thanksgiving dinner.  It was very good.

One of the highlights for me was seeing a few relatives today.  They didn’t realize I was in town so it was a bit of a surprise for them.  I was happy to see them and to have a few minutes to catch up.  If I come back again next year we may plan more than a short visit. The

The other nice memory I have was of a little girl this afternoon.  She was about 3.  Her mother had picked up a mandala vest, and I told her that I was impressed that she knew what it was.  She did because she had previously bought one for her daughter, who had outgrown it and it was time to get her another one in a larger size.  She got her daughter to try some on and then was deciding on colours.  Her daughter was spinning and hugging it and just looked so thrilled to be getting a new vest. The whole event was simply adorable.

Well, it is time to pop the popcorn and enjoy the new series opening shows.  We are going to get to see episode 1 &2.   I did buy 2 bottles of wine today, to bring home.  It was a  fine way to finish the weekend.

What did you do this weekend?

It is quiet here this morning.  I had my chance to sleep in yesterday, so I am up and online early today.  This weekend had promised to be a busy one, but in reality, that is not what happened.

Today will have to be busy to catch up.  I am a little down this weekend.  I have a friend that is in the hospital.  If you want to send me a personal comment about this, I would prefer if it was private.  I do not want a flood of messages on my feed because I do not want to do that publicly. You can send me an e-mail, my contact page works well.

Saturday was another socially busy day, around what is going on.  I was online a fair bit yesterday and this morning.  I am in the overthinking stage for the website building.  I am stuck in that, but it will progress when I am ready.  I created a graphic for welcoming people to Tish’s Treasure Seekers Facebook Group.  I had fun with it.  Then after a short visit at the hospital, my husband and I took in a movie. Valerian was OK.  I think they missed the memo on casting the actors, and Avatar the movie already had blue-skinned aliens that were living in harmony with nature.  The actors seemed too young for the roles and dialogue.  Not to say they are bad actors, but it kind of felt like I was watching the next Spy Kids movie with teens.  It just didn’t feel right.

After this, I tried to find a way to hear Colin James at Harvest Jazz and Blues in downtown Fredericton.  My husband wanted to go home to avoid traffic.  I may have pitched a small fit in the car.  We went for an hour.  I did not hear Colin James, I missed him.  Again.  This is the third time I have tried to see him in concert.  I have made a vow that the next time I am going to buy tickets.  Here’s hoping he comes back again.  I enjoyed some mini doughnuts with Roy as we wandered.  We met up with some friends, and that was a nice surprise.

Today I am going to fit in 2 visits with friends, as I have to touch base with another friend today before we go on a road trip next weekend.  I am helping her at a Craft Show in Nova Scotia.  I will fill you all in on that when it is over.  It may be Monday next week before I share that story.  If I am missing for a few days over the next month, know that I am OK, and with friends.  Make sure you take the time to let your friends know how much they mean to you while you are together.  You just never know when it will be too late.

Wow.  I am winning this weekend all over the place.  I have so much going on, and I wanted to write to share some big news with you all.  Big news.  First I need to give you the rest of the story.

Friday night is a distant memory.   I am still floored by the fact that when I checked my Blog on Friday, that I had 930 followers.  I know there are more now.  This little Blog that could (it is my nickname for this blog and a title I have used for a story on the blog) is just amazing.  I am so thankful that there are people that take time out of their busy lives to read what I am writing.  It gives me such a rush!  It confirms that I am on my way as an author, and inspires me to keep going.I worked so hard on Saturday, I don’t even remember what else I was up to on Friday.  Saturday was the start of something new.  And big.  Did I mention big? It’s huge.

I am in the process of building my own website. I took the leap, and have had a lot of friends want to help.  I am working on leveling up!  It is good to know that people support me and want to help.  Technology is not my passion, but I am asking questions and trying new things all the time.  It is still a lot of work, but now it is a little more familiar than the first time I started this blogging adventure.

I needed to schedule time away from the computer this afternoon.  I was so focused on the new website yesterday that I spent all of Saturday online.  I am thinking Saturday might be needing a new definition for me.  It hasn’t been chore day for several weeks.  It is hard to tear myself away, but necessary.  If I don’t make time for prep cooking and cleaning, the week will be expensive and messy.  So I am going to take a break from the computer today and get some other things done.

Before I left, I decided to try and start a movement this week.  I called it #ShareYourLoveSunday and I made a graphic to go along with it.  What do you think?

#ShareTheLoveSunday (1)

The goal is to start a discussion, based on love, positivity and good news.  I have had a few people join in, so maybe I am starting to learn more about turning things around, and shaking things up in a good way.  If you want to participate, leave a comment here or on my Tish’s Treasure Seekers Group on Facebook or @Tish MacWebber on Twitter.  I wanted to start something small that could have a big impact.  If you choose to join the facebook group, why not take the extra three minutes to join the Tish’s Treasure Seekers Birthday Bling Club?  There is a form with 5 required questions and one optional one. I will be checking progress later on.  For now, onward with the things that I don’t want to do because I need to do them, and also so I can get back to working on the things I want to do. What are you doing this weekend?

Long weekend!  Yes!  I had planned to take Friday off as a vacation day.  I am working on the Holiday.  I earn holiday pay, it is a Stat.  So I am OK with that, as I enjoyed having yesterday off.

We started the day off at a local restaurant for Brunch.  It was my second time at Claudine’s Eatery on Main Street, in Fredericton.  It was my husband’s first time there.  When I spoke to the owner about writing about our experience, she was concerned that we took pictures of our meals.  There was a new cook, and apparently, they are not trained on presentation, yet.  I told her not to worry, as long as I had permission to use some pictures from her online pages.  She said that would be fine.

Claudine's Eatery

I didn’t know if I should go for something fancy or not, but when I saw a number of choices on the breakfast menu that included lobster…I decided to take the plunge in for some seafood.  I ordered the lobster omelet with a side salad instead of homefries, and also no toast.

My husband got “The Maritimer” a traditional bacon eggs sausage toast and added ham.  The new cook forgot to put the pancakes on his plate.  They brought them out on a separate plate.  He liked his breakfast.  I enjoyed mine, immensely.  There were large pieces of lobster in the omelet,  and the side salad was fresh.  I would recommend it to anyone, it was wonderful.  The pic below has toast, mine did not.

Lobster omelet at Claudine's Eatery

Other than specializing in many types of Eggs Benny, they also have french onion soup listed as one of their favourites.  While I was searching through their pictures, I spied what I will try the next time I go for lunch.

Lobster grilled cheese with gouda and a small crock pot lobster poutine at Claudine's Eatery 2

My husband is not a fan of seafood.  Lobster ranks higher than chocolate or pizza on my list.  I will be going to try this, and maybe to talk about my favourite way to eat lobster. Always Thinking…

I then made my way out to King Woolens and Yarns after I brought my husband home.  I was planning to visit my friend, the owner, and check out what she set up for the new display for my Tish’s Treasures in her store.  I forgot to bring my new blue flower earrings. 😦

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

She had found a picture of a display online that she asked my opinion on.  I liked it and told her so.  She didn’t need help assembling it, but I went out to look for ideas for the base with her.  She had the new display assembled and ready.  It makes you want to walk around it to see what else is there.  She did a great job on it.  I happened to bring out a few new jewellery displays I had found yard sale shopping earlier in the summer, and we made a few changes.  We worked on it together, and it looks great now!

Saturday was a day for Blogging, errands and social media work.  It was busy in its own way.  I have been fighting a sinus headache.  I think I am winning, and I finished my day with making a pot of chili.  Not a lot of prep cooking today, but we have leftover chili to eat when we are hungry.

Sunday is here.  I am Bouncing the House, still with plans to go to Church this evening.  I then have a skype date with my cousin.  Until then I busied myself with the Master Bedroom cleaning, and shopping at the local Northside Market.  When things slow down and I have access to a better camera, I will be writing about the different markets in the city, and maybe guest blogging about them.  If that plan works out, I will be sure to share the links.

I bought a large fresh cabbage, and some ground pork while I was at the Market.  I plan on making egg roll in a bowl late tonight so I can have it for lunch at work tomorrow.
I bought meat, eggs, and vegetables for groceries, and splurged on some His & Hers Samosas (we each like different kinds) and a bag of apple muffins for a treat.

It was a busy long weekend.  What are your plans?  What did you do this weekend?

Weekend Warrior

Happy Weekend to you!  I am here on Sunday morning, using my AGENDA to figure out this busy day.  Friday I started a new challenge.  It is another five-day,  free,  online challenge, and since I had such a successful run at the last one I did, I signed up for the next one.  The first one taught me about how to Brand myself, as an Artist and an Author. The current Challenge is about Tribe Building, and that is a logical thing for me to learn tips and tricks for, also.  Both of these subjects need to be worked on, constantly, because the audience of today may be a different audience a month from now, six months from now, and onward.  Not that the core audience should be changing itself, but the needs of the audience will change and refocus over time, and I need to stay relevant if I am going to level up as an artist and author.

The homework for today, Day 3 is making me hesitant to answer. It looks easy, because of launching the contest, I think I am already figuring out the next step for me.  I am actually going to delay answering today until after the video for the challenge is posted.  I want to be sure that my answers are well thought out because I am Always Thinking…and I need to get the most out of this challenge that I can, which means sometimes I have to think about the answer, not just slam it out onto the keyboard.

I am really inspired from taking these challenges.  I ran a contest for people to check out different online projects I have on the go, and I picked a winner.  Today I need to create the prize, after having a consultation with the winner, yesterday.  I will be delivering the prize tomorrow, as she is someone that I work with.

Yesterday should have been an easy win for the cleaning and prep cooking.  It wasn’t.  I actually spent the whole day writing on the blog and working on my social media presence, as well as completing day 2 of the GYT Challenge.  I made the video, and I wrote two stories for the blog, one has been published, and the other one has been written in draft format.  It is waiting for approval on some links before I publish, as I want to be sure that I have gotten permission from the sources before sharing the links.  (I did get permission already for the one shared here.)

You may think that it is not hard to spend the day in front of the computer.  In one sense, you would be correct with that assumption.  On the other hand, I am working on many things at the same time, most of the time with writing as the main event, either here, on the blog, or writing my book, elsewhere.  I enjoy the social networking, and I have friends that I interact with online.  I also try to share only the best, most clever tweets.  I have not branched out far in the Twitterverse, but I do check in daily.  It is something I am getting the hang of how to use.

If I am writing, and that is working, then yes, there is a fun factor there for me too.  I really enjoy writing, and I do want to work hard at launching my trilogy to be a success.  I am trying to learn as I go, and do as much of this as I can by myself.  I know my limits, though, and will be in need of an editor when I have the manuscript and my initial editing completed.  I will need help in different areas, but I just took a Facebook quiz, and it said that I will be a millionaire in 2019.  If that is correct, I am going to be a successful published author by then.  I don’t really believe that it will happen because Facebook said so, but it is something that could happen if I work hard to make it so.

Today I went to a movie with my husband.  We went to see The Nut Job 2, and it was cute and funny.  Full of puns!  Not a lot, alright, but there were a few.  Then I rushed home to put a roast in the oven for supper.  Then I ran out again to help a friend buy what she needed for her store to create a new display.  We were both a little off, maybe tired from being busy, so we decided to go get some iced coffee.  We both had the sugar free vanilla.  I really enjoyed it, and it was just what I needed to pick me up.  We also sat down for a bit to have a chat.  Sometimes it is good to make time to just catch up.  The down side of this is that I had to turn down a visit with another friend today because I had already committed to the first friend yesterday.  The timing just wasn’t working out to do everything, and I still have homework and earrings to make.

When I publish this I am going to finish making supper, watch the video for my challenge, do the homework, make the earrings, and empty the dishwasher so I can fill it up again.  If I get REAL ambitious I’ll throw a chicken in the crockpot for tomorrow’s prep cooking adventures.  I LOVE Roast beef sandwiches, so lunch tomorrow will be a treat!  Tuesday I will need something prepared, and I am going to make Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole.  Hence the need to cook the chicken, tonight or tomorrow.  It is a simple recipe so it can be done in the morning.  Then all I will need to do is steam the broccoli, grate some cheese, and mix the recipe together and pop it into the oven.  If I get that far.  Right now, I could seriously go for a nap.  What does that mean?  I win this weekend! I even conquered a hard avocado last night when I was making nachos for supper. It never stood a chance. What did you do this weekend?

Weekend Warrior

I don’t have any “plans” this weekend.  I am going to do that Bouncing of the House I didn’t do last weekend.  I will catch up with a friend and maybe call another friend.  This weekend I am going to be alone while the hubby is at work.  Sometimes that is just what I need.

I will crank the tunes and get some things done tomorrow.  I am happy to say he did some work around here this week, so it isn’t a total disaster waiting for me to have to do everything.  It helps to have a partner with the chores, even if we work better in tandem than together on some projects.

I have to say it, and I don’t want to.  I have had another generation of ants in the kitchen.  I also want to put it out there that mint plants are needy divas.  They are happy or parched or dying or perky.  There is no happy medium, only the hour after they are watered, it seems.  I am struggling to keep them alive, and losing the battle with one already.  I need them to live to chase the bugs away.  I have seen spiders and ants, so maybe it is not a reliable theory.  It was worth a shot, though.

The problem with having a completely free weekend happens when I don’t have a reason to get the chores done.  It is much more fun to procrastinate on the computer and binge watch TV all day.  I know I am crawling out of bed in the morning to get the car.  I have not decided if that will happen Sunday, or not.  If I stay home, I don’t spend money.  That is a good rule of thumb for me.  I do have errands and so I need the car tomorrow.  I don’t like being home without it if I don’t need to be.  What if I need something?  I need the car to go get it.

Then a whole other list of things happens, I blink, and the day is gone and I have nothing to show for it.  So I think this weekend I will make a list.  Sometimes that is the only way for me to stay on track.

I have one day of the Brand Story Challenge I have participated in all week left.  It is over on Saturday, and I am looking forward to trying to put it all together.  There are prizes, and I feel like I am putting myself out there, much like I do here, and just going for it.  It may not seem like I am working hard at this if you don’t know me, but there are parts that are shared publicly and parts that are just for you and the members of the challenge.  So I have been sharing it all in the closed group.  I feel like if I put it all out there, maybe I have a chance to win something.  I can work hard, and hope.  I am trying to get below my outer layer and see what I am hiding inside that can help propel me forward.  It is making me think about things differently, and that is OK.

With Sunday morning there came a lack of sleep, due to humidity and some inspirations!  I have just filmed my first ever Facebook live video and created a scavenger hunt for the first contest I have ever launched for Tish’s Treasures.  I am really hoping it steps up my entrepreneurial game, and I am already planning my next contest!

I did get the car Sunday too.  I spent too much time trying to get in a nap, so this is causing my posting here to be late.  I have had so much to do, but my body needed to rest up before the dreaded Monday appeared.  (Oh no! It’s here!)

There was a bonus round for the Brand Story Challenge.  It is not quite ready, but will be shared all over the place really soon!

I am going to leave a link for my first Facebook Live Contest video HERE!  It is open to anyone that completes the requirements.  If you enter, best of luck to you!  There is a prize!

I am feeling drained after this weekend.  Humidity is not nice when you are unable to sleep through it.  I got a lot done, though, so I am calling it a draw…today was not as productive as it could have been.  How was your weekend?

Weekend Warrior

Here comes another weekend.  I am relaxing with a bottle of wine on this fine Friday night.  It is well deserved and has been in the wine rack for a while.  I kept it so that when I wanted to indulge, I would enjoy it.  I have, indeed.

What else did I do?  I started an Orphan Black Marathon of season 5.  It is the last season, and it ends tomorrow night.  Oh, how bittersweet it will be.

Saturday will be a full on, all out Bouncing the House day.  I need to get some cleaning done, and except for the washing of my delicates tonight while I enjoy the wine, I am falling behind in the housekeeping department, and I need to give it some TLC. My husband will be drafted with a “Honey do list”, and we will get some work done here tomorrow.  Update: I am visiting a friend on Saturday, and I caught up with another friend while running an errand.

Sunday involves a volunteer event.  I am working with the Boston Terrier Rescue Canada group again.  I am an official volunteer, and we will have a booth at the Fredericton Pride Parade.  I have signed on for the walking time in the parade because if I am going to be there, I want to get some exercise.  Walking is good for me. BTRC needs fund raising by people like me to help the non-profit group rescue more dogs in need, foster them, and hopefully place them in homes where they will be adopted.

Face painting success!

As a Catholic who believes in science and that the unexplained mysteries of how science and religion mingle will not be fully explained to me until I reach Heaven (which I sincerely hope to do, but realistically I expect to land in purgatory because nobody is perfect) I try to live my life guided by the church and the bible.  That being said, I have spent many years in conflict with myself.

I have come to terms with how I am able to be friends with different people.  That is the secret.  They aren’t fat or skinny, male or female, black or white, young or old, gay or straight.  They are people.  And as people, we all have our own belief systems.  Mine happens to be based in the Catholic Religion.  It teaches us to love one another, and also not to judge.  With these simple rules, I leave the rest to God.  I am able to be friends with some wonderful, incredible people, and because I do not judge them,  I think I am a better person for leaving the judgements aside and letting more friends into my life.  Like I said, nobody is perfect, and when it is not up to me, I am free to be true to myself.  I am able to open my eyes and see people as they are, people.  Like me.

I don’t usually write about my faith and religion.  I am not attempting to erase the past wrongs done by the Church, or by other Catholics.  I am only responsible for myself and my own actions.  I do try to be a good person, and live my life by example, with the 10 Commandments as my guide.  When I think about the state of the world today, I feel concerned.  I am not confident that humankind will survive the future of what might be.  I decided to write about it because change is possible.  It starts with one person.  I am putting this out there and making it known that I do not tolerate evil, no matter what form it takes.  Hatred is evil, and there is no room in my life for it.  If I had my way, there would be no room in the Universe for it.

The weather is iffy for tomorrow.  There is a chance it will rain, and maybe there will be thundershowers.  Not the best forecast for a parade.  It will happen, rain or shine.  I will try to dress for any weather (that will be challenging) and my sneakers are the best I’ve got for walking.  I am thinking about wearing something fun, in support of my friends.  I don’t have a costume, like some people, but then I am an ally.  It’s not about me.  It’s about allowing people to be true to themselves and to celebrate their acceptance of themselves and each other. Together.  The way people are supposed to be.  United in a common cause and belief, in a peaceful celebration.  I hope it does not rain on the parade.

Rainbow umbrella

It poured!  There was a thunderstorm indeed, complete with rolling thunder and lightning.  This happened after the parade, though.  People packed up as quickly as they could and ran for cover.  Imagine it, if you will.  I went to the Fredericton Pride Parade, and I left all wet!  A little (or a lot of) rain never hurt anyone.

Before heading home, we stopped at the Tiki Iced Tea Bar. Yes, it was shaken, not stirred, and wonderful!

The city has implemented a rainbow crosswalk downtown.  I think it is nice, and living in such a diverse city, and country, it fits in very well.

That’s a wrap for another weekend!  I won today, but the house did not get bounced properly.  I will say the weekend won Saturday, even though I still had a great time meeting up with friends, I did not accomplish what I set out to do.  This weekend, it was a draw. What did you do this weekend?
